Doom-pop Duo Trigger Discipline Debut Apocalyptic Video for “3 and 4 and 5”

“What are you afraid of when you close your eyes?”

Setting the tone for the album to come, doom-pop duo Trigger Discipline asks this fearful question in their video for “3 and 4 and 5”, a captivating song that highlights the darkness of this dystopian and surreal era permeating every facet of life the United States.

Navigating the surrounding madness, trying to find what is both true and meaningful, Trigger Discipline shine a light in the darkness with this first taste from their forthcoming full-length debut AMERICAN GOTHICC.

Juxtaposing light and dark, “3 and 4 and 5” is a melange of genres, combining post-punk, shoegaze,  darkwave, dream-pop, and trip-hop, that entreats self-reflection in an almost playful manner while posing profound and vulnerable existential questions:

“what are your weaknesses, and who can you trust?”

“3 and 4 and 5” is earnest, raw, and shimmers with dark dance beats that are both weighty and gossamer. This is sugar for the pill as the song’s video is a collage of horrific images of war, chaos, and destruction that flash in across the frame in split screens and overlays,

Watch the video for “3 and 4 and 5” below:

Emerging from the infamous Bridgewater Triangle, Trigger Disciplines Alyssa Gallagher and Jae Yahkèl imbue their own unique artistic sensibilities into apocalyptic music that, not unlike Pandora’s box,  is tempered with a grain of hope.

Their name Trigger Discipline is a mission statement, where they aim to “confront a devastated world with calculated restraint, the album’s music and lyrics navigate existential dread with impassioned urgency and earnest honesty.”

Co-produced, mixed, and mastered by Alex Garcia-Rivera (American Nightmare / Cold Cave / Vundabar), the album draws inspiration from Vivaldi to Curve to Public Enemy, creating ethereal dance anthems imbued with jangly guitars and infectious beats.

As a bonus, take an exclusive listen to another one of AMERICAN GOTHICC’s haunting reveries, “Strange Meat”.

Pre-orders for limited edition 180g colored 12″ vinyl have begun via their Trigger Discipline’s Bandcamp page.
