[dropcap]There’s[/dropcap] is something to be said about a band’s influnces if they name themselves after a Cure song that refers to Manchester journalist Paul Morely’s infamous negative review of Three Imaginary Boys. The band in question—Desperate Journalist are one of the finest Post-Punk bands in the UK at the moment. Hailing from London—and fronted by charismatic singer Jo Bevan, we haven’t had a Post-Punk band of this caliber come out since The Organ asked us to take cover a decade ago. The opening track Control—off of their debut album from November of 2014 was one of the best Post-Punk tracks to come out that year.
The the video above is for the first track Hollow off of the band’s upcoming sophmore LP Grow Up—which is set for a release on March 24 via Fierce Panda. The video is a stark and stylish black-and-white music video that follows a young woman confronting the individual band members in various situations and settings—very reminsicent of The Cure’s video for Charlotte Sometimes.
Looking forward to this one!
