Bathed in the luminescence of cinematic pop, Kid Moxie reigns unrivaled. A kismet encounter with a humble can of Moxie Cola stoked the fires of her musical aspiration, sparking the birth of her sonic alter-ego—Kid Moxie. “Cinematic pop is my genre of choice,” she confesses, and it’s impossible to ignore the reel of vibrant cinematic nuances that play out in her melodically spellbinding tapestries.
Now she proudly announces a dreamy remix for Depeche Mode’s Wagging Tongue, off their latest album Memento Mori. In this song, Dave Gahan’s voice is steeped in the raw essence of grief as he tackles the heartbreaking subject of beholding “another angel fall.” His melancholic tones carry the narrative of overcoming character assassinations—whether they’re targeted personal onslaughts against a contentious figure, the stifling vortex of echo chambers, or possibly allegorical references to political stagnancy on pressing matters like gun control or the perils encircling the LGBTQ+ community. Adding Kid Moxie’s ethereal voice to the track brings a great deal of poignancy to the song.
“I was pretty ecstatic when Depeche Mode reached out to me to produce and sing on a remix for “Wagging Tongue,” she says. “I was asked to make it “my own” and go for that cinematic pop vibe which happens to be my sound. Now, as confident as I feel about my own sound, I got a bit nervous because this is my favourite band, and I really wanted them to like it. When I got the stems, I solo-ed Dave’s voice and truly had a close-to-ethereal experience! I was thinking of myself as a kid in Greece, adoring them, and now “here they were,” their voices on my laptop. I worked on it for about a month, played around with the sounds and our voices, and deeply enjoyed diving in. My manager, Michael Pagnotta, is a long-time friend of the band and was a good sounding board for me during the creative process. I savoured taking my time with it as it felt like the kind of song that kept growing, evolving, and unfolding. A truly multi-layered and deeply emotional track. I was envisioning deserted city rooftops, neon lights, and black angel wings flying over the skyline.”

Originally from the Greek islands, Kid Moxie now calls the City of Angels her home. Under her true identity—Elena Charbila, she has carved her niche in the music landscape through monumental collaborations. Her sonic partnerships span from the genre-blending Gaslamp Killer to the iconic maestro Angelo Badalamenti, whom she collaborated with on a symphonic rendition of “Mysteries of Love,” an unforgettable piece from David Lynch’s cult classic, Blue Velvet. Kid Moxie’s musical virtuosity extends beyond collaborations; she has marked her aural signature by composing for the recently rebranded Orion/MGM Pictures logo, and delivering a score for Cannes laureate Vassilis Kekatos’ newest television venture, Milky Way.
But it’s not just her impressive resume that’s turning heads. Kid Moxie’s own personal albums are an aural delight, with tracks that have received significant international airplay and have been featured in indie films, hit TV shows, and international brand campaigns. She’s even contributed several tracks to the wildly popular video game sensation Cyberpunk 2077.
