David Bowie’s official social media accounts have just spread the sad news that the influential musician passed away on the 10th of January, just two days after his 69th birthday and the release of his album Blackstar.
The posts on both his Facebook and Twitter account read:
“David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.”
While many fans are still in disbelief and suspect a hoax, Bowie’s son Duncan Jones just confirmed the news in a tweet: “Very sorry and sad to say it’s true. I’ll be offline for a while. Love to all.”
