God knows where your hiding
I can’t escape the demons that I’m fighting
Drown me in your holy water
Sacrifice me on your altar
Canadian/American duo, RITUAL WAVE, is a collaboration between Toronto vocalist Judy Karacs and San Diego musician, John Goodman. The pair have unveiled their seductive music video for the haunting new single “My Sin”, a song that weaves old-school post-punk with a decadent darkwave melody.
“My Sin” uses religious themes as a metaphor to express the psychological torment and destruction of someone willing to sacrifice everything in order to be loved; exploring the dark side of desire. Recalling the feverish passion of saints to an unobtainable entity, the song reflects the passionate, perhaps obsessive, devotion to an entity. Be they deity or human, unrequited love is a journey of suffering.
“This track was a labour of love,” says Karacs. “I really wanted to explore how obsession impacts the human psyche. I likened these feelings to a strong religious, devotional experience. I wanted to explore the idea of having such profound faith in someone that all logic and reasoning seemed irrelevant.”
The video, directed by Judy Karacs, is rife with Catholic symbolism and raw sensuality, melding the two in a gorgeous – if forbidden – monochromatic feast for the eyes.

Goodman and Karacs have been composing music together since 2018, sharing the same love and affinity for similar styles of music, which ultimately led to their collaboration. My Sin is their second release as a duo.
Karacs’s soothing, melodic voice floats in the ether, bringing both a melodic dissonance reminiscent of Boy Harsher and the ethereal howlings of Kate Bush to the forefront.
“When I originally wrote this track, I had been rediscovering my love for classic artists like The Sisters of Mercy and The Jesus and Mary Chain,” says Goodman. “At the same time, I was blown away at what artists like The Soft Moon were doing. My Sin was an homage to the past and to the influence of those newer, darker artists.”
