Two dads with shared interests and a desire to step outside of the electronic music box joined forces and sought out something more fulfilling. Infusing various elements of 80s synth, post-punk, coldwave, and heavy metal. More Is Not Enough delivers raw, emotional music. The result manifests as the intriguing Midlife Christ Is EP. We hear elements of Depeche Mode, Tuxedomoon, and Aztec Camera in their sound – staccato synths, spooky synth choral vocals, and frenetic drumming pepper the album.
The album opens with the eerie “Sanguine Lover,” a synth number fronted with a sinister spoken word with Martin Gore-style chorus. “Sex Disguise” moves into a gothier undertone with distorted guitars reminiscent of Siouxsie & The Banshees; “Leviathan” is a poetic meditation sprinkled with ethereal synths in the ether. “Absens Lux” has the sensuously cinematic flair of an 80s film montage set late at night. “Devil’s Speak” closes the album with eerie Vangelis-style synth stylings.
Overall an excellent offering from M.I.N.E.
