Dark synth Artist Hermidgets has unveiled their video for “Perks”, the second single from the project’s forthcoming new record—the follow-up to the 2020 album, The Mire.
While always wrapped in a cloak of melancholia, the music of Hermidgets is more dynamic and danceable with “Perks”, a song that has a more effervescent melody, churning with the kind of dark energy found in a fog-laden 80s disco.
In conjuring this track’s distinct sound, some unconventional methods were used, as Hermidgets’ enigmatic auteur explains:
“For this song I wanted my synths to sound like a black metal guitar, so I layered some tracks and put them under destructive distortion”
Hermidgets has recently expanded its ranks by involving some additional musicians to round out the lineup, with the idea of rearranging some of his songs for future performances.
“I thought it would be nice to capture some images and make a video of them, so I edited the footage to disguise my appearances and persevere this anonymity game”

“Perks” is mixed by Matteo Sand who works with Sananda Matreya and is mastered by Kevin Paul who worked with Bowie, Depeche Mode, and Goldfrapp.
