Dark Rock Duo Unhappily Ever Now Debuts the Rabbit Junk Remix of “Pleading (The Haunting of Scars)”

Unhappily Ever Now, the industrial/progressive-rock project founded by Cleopatra Records (Green Jellö) songwriter Stephen Watson with songwriter and. vocalist Maria V, announces their latest offering, “Pleading (The Haunting of Scars) [Rabbit Junk Remix].”

Underneath the potent helm of influence from the likes of Stabbing Westward, TOOL, and A Perfect Circle, their music unfurls with a complexity that mirrors a labyrinth and an ambition that challenges the stars. They do not anchor themselves strictly within these genre borders, however: their sound is a chameleon, drinking in the multicolored spectrum of musical genres and reflecting an ever-changing, prismatic palette back to the world. This practice enables them to press their fingertips against the glass ceiling of creative boundaries. Through this dynamic journey of musical metamorphosis, they encapsulate their vision and message, a gift to an audience that swells in number and diversity with each passing moon.

As part of their creative odyssey, they engage in a perpetual dance of remix collaborations with fellow artisans whose soundscapes share common ground. This remix moves more into NIN territory, with its icy synths tempering the raw industrial beats and bringing Maria V’s gorgeous harmonies into a new limelight.

In the capable hands of JP Anderson, the Rabbit Junk Remix of the track morphs the commanding urgency of the original’s pulsating bass, sky-climbing guitars, and harmonies that shimmer like a mirage into an entirely new beast. The result is a new creation steeped in shadows, tinged with a melancholy dreaminess. It breathes life into a distinct identity, pulling threads from the shadowy depths of synthwave to weave a rhythm that entices the body into a swaying, midnight-hued dance. This darker, dreamier incarnation stirs the embers of the night, enveloping listeners in a brooding symphony of sounds that’s both compelling and beautifully unsettling.

“This single was so special for us to create and share with the world,” Maria V says.  “As music fans that love multiple genres, collaborating with artists we admire gives us the ability to take our songs to another level.  We have been Rabbit Junk fans for some time, and JP Anderson is a master at bending genres, so we knew our song was in great hands.”

The remix is available now on all streaming platforms . An official music video is coming later this summer. Stay tuned for the next remix of “Pleading (The Haunting of Scars)” by Walter Flakus (StabWalt) of Stabbing Westward.
