Dark Chanteuse ANIQO has unveiled her video for “Fake”, a biting critique of the insincerity
After studying literature and music, she felt like she needed to further pursue her career as an artist, implementing the recommendations her former teachers gave her:”I recognized how important the breath is – for music and for life.”Drawing from a range of influences from David Bowie, Radiohead, Prince, Tom Waits to Nina Simone, ANIQO elegantly crafts her music with many layers and sub-texts.ANIQO worked with L.A. based producer and artist Joe Cardamone of The Icarus Line to record her first tracks, her new single Fake amongst them.
About the song, ANIQO explains:
“It is about hypocrisy and manipulation – in the larger social and political context, but also in the small relations. I think everything starts here: in daily life together. So many faces – so many masks. I sometimes wonder why people find it so hard to reveal true feelings and to be honest – to themselves and to the outside world. Many things seem artificial, aloof and wrong. You rarely see a real, open soul – mostly children, before they learn to laugh about things they do not find funny.”
With fans such as Black Rebel Motorcycle Club posting her videos on their official website, there it is likely that this first full single release could win her over many new admirers.
