The Cruel World music festival has unveiled its lineup for the 20th of May 2023 at Brookside at the Rose Bowl. This year’s festival announces Iggy Pop, Billy Idol, the newly-reunited Love & Rockets, Adam Ant, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Human League, Gary Numan, and more. However, the crown jewel of this lineup from promoter Goldenvoice is the glorious return of Siouxsie.
The last time Siouxsie performed live was at the 2013 Meltdown Festival in London; she hasn’t played in the United States since touring in support of her 2008 solo debut Mantaray. She will also be performing at the UK’s Latitude festival in July.
Love and Rockets also haven’t performed live since 2008. Bauhaus gave it their all at the last Cruel World Festival, but unfortunately, Peter Murphy’s struggles forced the band to cancel their tour last year. Many had been hoping the remaining trio would reform, and this weekend they got the answer that the band does indeed have a new tale to tell, with a headlining appearance booked at this year’s festival. Echo & The Bunnymen and Gary Numan were slated to play the original 2020 lineup, but due to various obstacles and bureaucratic red tape, were unable to make it – until this year.
More modern acts, including Molchat Doma, Boy Harsher, The Soft Moon, Twin Tribes, and more, will also be gracing the stage.
Tickets go on sale at 12 p.m. Pacific time Friday, Jan. 27 — register for the on-sale at cruelworldfest.com.
