Sacramento post-punk darlings Creux Lies are making a strong debut, following up their introductory single “Zone” with their new song “Portals”, the first track to be shared from their upcoming debut LP The Hearth.
Capturing echoes of several classic post-punk bands from the 80s, while maintaining the song is spellbinding dream pop—featuring galloping guitars and basslines underlaid with breath like keys that hit the senses like a cold wind during a morning slumber.
“Portals surrounds the story of our romantic mythology and the expectation of humans to defy instinct. We travel back and forth as the beast dominates and our modernity lands in terror. However, sometimes, love prevails.”
– Ean Clevenger (Vocals)
The Hearth will be released on August 17th via Cleopatra Records and is now available for pre-order; Meanwhile you can download “Portals” for free here
The album was recorded in lae 2017 at Earthtone Studios in Sacramento under “the care of” producer/engineer Patrick Hills (King Woman, Tera Melos, So Stressed).
Creux Lies are performing tonight at The Resident in Los Angeles alongside Vowws, and Second Still, with a series of three dates with Night Nail to follow.
