German artist Jennifer Touch emerges as a solitary figure cut against a sprawling prairie landscape, her presence stark against the power lines and smokestacks that loom in the distance. This hauntingly captivating scene unfolds in the powerful new video for “Dripping.” Shot in evocative black and white, saturated Technicolor, and interspersed with scenes bathed in a golden sunset, the visuals form a striking metaphor that perfectly encapsulates the song’s breathtaking cinematic intensity.
Beautifully shot and directed by Nea Gumprecht, the visuals feature Jennifer Touch in a black fringed outfit and wide-brimmed hat—stylishly echoing Dave Gahan’s iconic look in Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus.” Cradling an abalone shell—symbolic and enigmatic—her expression remains stoic and introspective, a contrast to the song’s powerful and impassioned performance.
Musically, “Dripping” combines throbbing bass synths, icy cinematic textures, and industrial pulses with Touch’s distinctively fierce alt-pop vocals, delivering lyrics with a bone-chilling intensity that sweeps across the sonic landscape like a gathering storm. Her sound—a mesmerizing collision of dark ’80s synth nostalgia, acid-pop textures, and industrial grit—resonates deeply, an emotional cyclone of personal revelation.
Jennifer Touch describes her music as Post-Wave-Cold-Pop-Acid-Romance, and indeed, this track pulses with echoes of PJ Harvey’s raw power, DAF’s driving EBM rhythms, and the brooding elegance of Depeche Mode. Yet, like a lone rider forging her own trail, she spurs her sound toward uncharted horizons.
