The opening of a window onto rapture
Find the world shining in me
The senses consciously holy
Make love by touching fingertips
Ex-Cocteau Twins chanteuse Elizabeth Fraser and her partner, percussionist Damon Reece, announce an enchanting new single: “Underwater”. This glorious offering opens Sun’s Signature debut EP, the duo’s forthcoming project from Partisan Records.
The song follows last month’s debut of Fraser’s first official new music release in thirteen years, “Golden Air”,
Andy Jenks and Fraser Muggeridge Studio created a stunning visualizer for ‘Underwater”, a psychedelic journey tinged with Celtic folk, Fraser’s ethereal vocals, and a chill vibe straight from the shores of post-Wicker Man Summerisle. It brings forth the energy of 90s trip-hop and transcendental bliss; a heady mix reminiscent of Steeleye Span, Portishead, and Chromatics. Fraser’s inimitable vocals soar through the mysterious poetic lyrics, taking us to other realms. A delight to behold.

Sun Signature’s self-titled debut EP will be available as physical copies on the 18th of June for Record Store Day. A digital release is scheduled for sometime in July.
“Underwater”, like other tracks on the Sun’s Signature EP, is a song that has been adrift in the musical ether since the Cocteau Twins broke up in 1997, having been first issued as a limited single in 2000.
The songs “Golden Air” and “Make Lovely the Day” previously made their live debut when performed at the 2012 Meltdown Festival.
The new EP will be the first release by Fraser since 2009’s “Moses”, a song she’d written with Damon Reece and the late Jake-Drake Brockman.
