Choir Boy releases a transcendent synth-pop hymn in the single for ‘Sunday Light’

Fresh off of performing some gigs with Soft Kill and Chamelonsvox, Adam Klopp of the duo Human Leather is releasing more material under the guise of Choir Boy; his aptly titled solo project reflecting a unique and saintly vocal range that is somewhere between Jimmy Somerville of Bronski Beat, and Anohni of Antony and the Johnsons.

Following the release of his debut LP, Passive with Desire Adam Klopp has now signed to Dais Records and has just premiered over at Noisey his first release on the label—the spellbinding synthpop single Sunday Light, which continues the thematic elements from his musical christening.

He elaborated to Noisey in an interview that went along with the premiere:

“My earliest experiences participating in music were in a religious context—hymns being sung by the congregation, and then church choir,” he wrote them via email. “I remember a few specific instances feeling a powerful sensation while singing a hymn and I’d associate that feeling with the veracity of its content. I think a lot of people hold onto those memories when they’re experiencing dissonance with their faith.”

The Sunday Light 7″ is out Reon October 20 on Dais.

Choir Boy tour dates:
