Choir Boy Premiere the video for “Sunday Light”

Ahead of their tour with Cold Cave, Dais Record’s act Choir Boy have released their breathtakingly cinematic and transcendently beautiful video for “Sunday Light”—a track that showcases singer Adam Klopp’s saintly vocal range that is somewhere between Jimmy Somerville of Bronski Beat, and Anohni of Antony and the Johnsons.

The video directed by Jordan Utley & Josh Fletcher features a melange of religious imagery in a small town setting—hinting at sexual repression and shame as a dark figured on the verge of collapse ambles down the street  while tarred and feathered.

Choir Boy was the epithet given to called singer/songwriter Adam Klopp in his early teens when he fronted punk cover bands in Cleveland, Ohio. Intended as an insult, Klopp later embraced the nickname, while leaving his religious upbringing behind as he immersed himself in SLC’s underground music and art scene, forming his his new band Choir Boy.

Klopp explains:

“It seemed funny to me as sort of a comical reclamation of the mocking title I received from punk peers as a teen. While serving as a weird reflection of my childhood and musical heritage.”
