Chilean Shoegaze Infused Post-Punk Outfit Seatemples Debuts Dreamy Video for “Weltschmerz”

Chilean postpunk infused shoegaze outfit Seatemples unveil their new single, Weltschmerz. The cinematic track melds shoegaze, goth rock, and psychedelia.  The song is driven by corrosive fuzzy guitars, clean chorused strings, and an expansive bassline.

The song is at once dreamy and seductive, a melancholy vibe peppered with the whimsy of tambourine and ethereal vocals. It brings to mind bands like Type O Negative (October Rust), Catherine Wheel, and The Jesus and Mary Chain. “Within Weltschmerz we escape from painful world stages, while dancing into the flames towards new hopeful times for outsiders,” muses Patricio Temples.

The accompanying clip was directed by Francisca Lynch (Spaceman Films) and it includes an intriguing performance by Mary Kankava (Hellcatfairy), a well-known dark artist from Russia. It is at once a moody performance video for the band and a glimpse into the expansive wild unknown, beautifully illustrating the oeuvre of the song.

Watch below:

The production crew from previous album Trópicos regrouped for this track, mixed by British producer Daniel Knowles (Amusement Parks on Fire/The Know), and mastered by Italian producer Maurizio Baggio (The Soft Moon and Holygram). The single will also contain two more alternative versions mixed by Patricio Zenteno (songwriter of the band) including a club remix and another more 90s oriented sound, the latter mastered by the Argentinian producer Nicolas Castello (NAX). The art cover was made by the Canadian visual artist Teresa Lobos (Lagomorphosis).

Weltschmerz is available on a digital maxi-single format on Bandcamp and as a regular single in all of your streaming music services.
