Chicago synth-pop artist The CF3 performs both in Spanish and in English, combining the New Retro Wave genre with 80’s post-punk. The CF3 has released videos for two songs from their next EP, entitled Time Machine.
The first is the track Sombras, the Spanish word for “shadows.” The video features fire dancer Sally Marvel, wearing an impressive fire helmet, invoking visions from The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, and slow-motion fire wings. The song is pure 80s synth ballad, sung entirely in Spanish – with a sick guitar solo anchoring it all together.
Segunda Vida hits that sweet spot of nostalgia, pop earnestness, and post-punk edge. The bouncy synths instantly trigger memories of high school dances, John Hughes films, and long drives in a Camaro. Listen below:
