Brooklyn Indie Rock Outfit Stutterboy Debut New Single “False Dam”

Ties, vests and the like,
Even softer hands it’s true.
I’d like his head on a pike,
But I’ve got better things to do.

Brooklyn-based indie rock quartet, Stutterboy, has revealed the release of their latest creation, “False Dam” – a blistering, hook-filled commentary on modern life. Consisting of Miles Grossenbacher on keys and vocals, Alex Byers on bass and vocals, Jimmy Petrich on drums, and founder/frontman Grover Doyle on guitar and vocals, this group effectively channels the spirit of college rock from the late 80s and early 90s with this melodic punk offering. Drawing comparisons to the likes of Pixies, Foo Fighters, Sonic Youth, The Breeders, and The Libertines, Stutterboy has captured the essence of that era with their latest track.

The lyrics of “False Dam” are a scathing indictment of the hypocrisy that often permeates society. The song rails against performative artifice and calls into question what people are truly willing to accept in modern life. With the bar constantly moving, it begs the question – where will it all end, and how will it ultimately impact humanity?

Stutterboy’s genesis began when Grover Doyle connected with Zoltan Sindhu and Greg Tock, two accomplished studio engineers and instrumentalists. Together, they labored tirelessly, birthing Stutterboy’s self-titled debut LP in April of 2021. This first foray was a raw, unbridled expression of Doyle’s pent-up angst and frustration, tempered only by a slightly softer, more introspective second album.

Enter keyboardist Miles Grossenbacher, whose arrival marked a seismic shift in Stutterboy’s sound, as the band moved away from the lazy surf punk of old and into a synth-bound amalgamation of post-punk and college rock. The final piece of the puzzle came with the addition of rhythm section Byers and Petrich.

Their debut on the NYC live music scene was nothing short of electrifying, with shows at Arlene’s Grocery, Pete’s Candy Store, and Pianos leaving audiences in awe. This year Stutterboy has released two singles (“When You Call Me” and “Crossing Over“) as a precursor to their second LP, which will release at the end of May 2023.
