Boston Post-Punk Trio House of Harm Spin Out of Control in “Vicious Pastimes”

Boston post-punk trio House Of Harm have unveiled the video for “Vicious Pastimes”, the title track from their forthcoming full-length debut LP to be issued by Avant! Records this autumn.

While the band comes from a city that gave rise to post-punk heroes Mission of Burma, The Cars, and The Pixies, House of Harm has more in common with dark reverb-soaked European and UK coldwave and gothic rock acts of the more so than their local forbears.

Leading up to their full-length debut was the issuing of two tape EPs that earned House of Harm a cult international following as well as an impressive line up of supporting gigs opening for Editors, She Past Away, Lust For Youth, and The Cure’s Reeves Gabrels.

With production that feels part Dave Allen via The Cure and Chameleons and part early 4AD, the song “Viscious Pastimes” is a dancefloor-friendly whirl of guitars, synths, and vocals that perfectly summons shadowy touching pop moodiness that highlights a dynamic interplay between both light and darkwave.

Watch the video, filmed and directed by Caroline Bailey. below:

Vicious Pastimes is set for release on September 4th on vinyl LP and digital via Avant! Records.
