Berlin Post-Punk Duo Her Absence Fill the World Return with New Single “Light Blue Train”

Her Absence Fill The World, a Berlin-based Neue Türkische Welle band, has emerged from a two-year hiatus with their latest single, “Light Blue Train,” a song that teases the release of the band’s upcoming album, “Unknown Territories.”

HAFTW’s melodies oscillate between feelings of abandonment and pursuit, drawing from classical violin and techno influences crafted during their journey from Ankara to Berlin. “Light Blue Train” showcases atmospheric guitar arpeggios, nods to ’90s and early 2000s indie vocals, and punchy drums, delivering a fresh interpretation of indie rock.

Mixed by Sonny DiPerri and mastered by Dave Cooley at Elysian Mastering, this track is a captivating blend of shadows and rhythms. Enveloping listeners with wistful vocals, engaging synth leads, and a gentle beat, it creates a hypnotic ambiance perfect for a leisurely journey or drifting into slumber.

The echoes of their performance at the 30th anniversary of Wave Gotik Treffen still linger, solidifying Her Absence Fill The World’s status as rising stars in the international dark-wave underground scene. Their exceptional talent and burgeoning potential have started to carve out their niche within this vibrant, diverse, and evolving genre.

Operating under their self-run DIY label, U-Boddin Records, based in Berlin, the band’s music is a testament to their unique sound and diverse cultural influences. They have previously graced the rosters of a variety of independent dark scene labels, including Detriti Records, Cold Transmission, and Oraculo Records, establishing a solid presence within the community.

Their headline act at the Art Carnival Festival in Gröningen (NL) last summer, coupled with performances at renowned Berlin venues like Christa Kupfer and Kiezfest Neukölln, has only amplified their growing reputation. As resident artists and founders of the cross-border music project, NCOUNTERS Berlin, they continue to push the boundaries of their craft, fostering collaboration and innovation.

With their vinyl debut “Dead Hands” on Oraculo Records and a successful mini tour across Germany, touching cities like Leipzig, Frankfurt, and Berlin, Her Absence Fill The World is steadily leaving an indelible mark. Their journey is a testament to their relentless pursuit of artistic excellence and their unwavering commitment to the dark-wave scene. As they look toward the future, the band’s trajectory promises even more groundbreaking contributions to the music world, including the release of their forthcoming new album, “Unknown Territories.”
