Berlin Era David Bowie box set ‘A New Career in a New Town’

Parlophone is issuing it’s third David Bowie box set September 29th. The new collection A New Career in a New Town (1977-1982) is an 11 CD, 13 LP or digital download edition that includes all Bowie releases between 1977 and 1982, including The BAAL EP and a new mix of Lodger by producer Tony Visconti.

The new box set Chronicles Bowie creative period in Berlin famously called his “Berlin Trilogy” through New Wave record Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps). The BAAL ep is featured on a new compilation called Re:Call 3 that includes singles, B-sides, and songs featured on soundtracks, and even his duet with Bing Crosby.

The new mix of  1979’s Lodger by Visconti had “started with David’s blessing before his passing” last year, according to the label:

“Tony Visconti has revisited the original multi-tracks at Human Studios and remixed the album with the benefit of modern technology to better highlight the album’s nuances. Always a personal favorite of David’s, this version of the album will also feature newly ‘remixed’ artwork featuring unseen images from the original cover photographic session from the archive of the Estate of photographer Duffy, working closely with his son Chris.”

Included in the vinyl edition is a 84 page page book featuring rare and previously unseen photos—whereas the CD edition ups the page count to 128 pages in the CD set, which includes “mini-vinyl” versions of the original album sleeves,
