Berlin’s darkwave darlings, Night Nail, have unleashed a gorgeous new video for the haunting BRNO. Their latest single simmers with dark romance via Robert’s otherworldly croon. Night Nail, comprised of Ilija Gavrilenko, Justin Deactivere, and Brandon Robert, “weave together sounds & themes of the loss of hope, giving into fear and paranoia, a love for the nostalgic, and looking within ourselves into the total unknown.”
“BRNO is about seeing digital ghosts one fateful night on tour on the dark streets of a BRNO, Czech Republic,” says the band. “The ghosts beckoned us into their bar and then into a techno club where everyone and everything looked like it would on Giedi Prime. A perfect night.”
Night Nail found their origins in Los Angeles, CA. After releasing their self-titled EP and going through extensive touring throughout the US, the band moved to Berlin and recorded their first album, LA Demons (Cleopatra Records) in April 2018. Brandon and Justin began writing and recording the songs for March To Autumn in 2019, just before the chaos of the pandemic began…bookending the experience by mixing this album during their lockdown in Berlin. They entrusted their co-producing, mixing, and mastering with Scottish producer Pete Burns (Kill Shelter). The album also features Valentina Veil, Ilja Gavrilenko, Manuel Wagner, and Pete Burns.
The video for BRNO, directed by Brandon Robert, Valentina Veil, and Mariusz Wierzbicki, features Valentina Veil (VV & the Void) and Marita Volodina (Stridulum/Helvethet).
The band’s latest album March to Autumn is available now via Cold Transmission Records on CD, vinyl, and digital download.
