BBelgium’s sensual darkwave duo, Ultra Sunn, has just released their latest dancefloor banger, “This Is Not About You,” a brand new offering following their signing with Artoffact Records. The release of the single sets the stage for a promising 2024 for the band, for which they managed to secure a highly sought-after spot at the upcoming Las Vegas Sick New World Fest and have planned tour dates in the US, including major cities such as Los Angeles.
The new single “This Is Not About You” draws its vibrancy from the effervescent house music that echoed through Belgium in the early 90s. With rhythms reminiscent of the iconic 909s that pulsated through its famed clubs, paired with digital synthesizers crafting ethereal, crystalline tones, the track masterfully marries emotive lyrics with dance floor allure. This single signals the band’s innovative foray, embracing novel equipment and techniques, and confidently showcases an evolved sound. One anticipates it to not only charm their loyal listeners but also elevate the ensemble’s trajectory.
“We were interested in this sort of self-victimization of some people when, ultimately, they are not at the center of the subject,” says the band. “The track talks about the moment when we see the people we used to love or for example, the heroes of our teenage years, reveal their true and disappointing faces. This is about the moment when they act like victims in today’s fights, or in reaction to a legitimate demand to be seen, considered and respected. In this song, we no longer give them the opportunity to hurt us.”

Earlier this year, in June, the band marked the beginning of a new stage in their career with the announcement of their signing to Artoffact Records for a global, multi-album deal and inked the deal with the release of a boisterous new track, “Broken Monsters.” Thrilled to call Artoffact their newhome, the band commented that the partnership signifies “a new era in which we have the will to pursue our artistic freedom and our positive, powerful and inclusive energy.”
ULTRA SUNN captivated hearts with their chart-topping single, “Keep Your Eyes Peeled,” amassing a dedicated fandom while gracing stages across Europe, North and South America. Their work illustrates a craving for contemporaneity, echoing in their themes, audial expressions, and team-ups with the likes of Kontravoid, Kris Baha, Zanias, Curses, Sarin, all while reverently nodding to the roots of classic EBM and Belgian electronic tunes.
Upon their formation, the band swiftly found their place alongside the industry’s titans like Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, DAF, A Split Second, and others. Sam’s voice, as deep and mysterious as a moonless night, weaves into Gaelle’s meticulously arranged orchestra of analog synthesizers and industrial drum machinery. Their work embodies their love for the fine arts, fashion, and the electrifying spirit of Coldwave, New Beat, and fresh EBM. As observers of their era, ULTRA SUNN generates vibrant, dance-inducing anthems that preach self-growth, resistance against anxiety, and champion gender equality.
