Be Careful Bargaining With Demons — Italian Darkwave Outfit Ask The Dust Weaves a Rural Horror Story in Their Video for “Child of the Sunflowers”

Emerging from the eerie shadows of Italy’s underground music scene, the enigmatic darkwave unit Ask The Dust rekindles the spirit of the witching season with their latest audiovisual offering, “Child of the Sunflowers.”

Unveiling a countryside terror tale, the video narrative unfolds through a melancholic lens, initially spotlighting a collection of familial photographs, with a discreet pentagram adorning one. A woman, in the delicate phase of pregnancy, tenderly clings to a photo, as a haunting message – “Make him come back to us,” lies nearby. The scene escalates as she etches her palm with a blade, offering her blood to the poignant plea etched on paper.

Subsequently, we traverse along with her on a rustic trail adorned by sunflowers, as she pedals on. The somber guitars and bass notes unravel the impending narrative, setting an ominous stage for the gothic rock vocal embrace that follows. Amidst the sunflower fields, an eerie ritual unfolds as she chants to a scarecrow, clutching a pentangle and a dark crystal, eventually handing over the blood-stained note. As the scarecrow clasps it, a white-robed demon materializes, spiraling her into a sudden awakening beside her partner. The morning calm shatters as the ominous red mist infiltrates her dwelling, with demonic gazes haunting from the window. This eerie tale culminates as a stark warning against dalliances with the demonic, for the devil’s bargain is never what it seems.

Dive into the eerie realms of “Child Of The Sunflowers” here:

From their humble inception, crafting the cover of “Dark Entries” by Bauhaus within the quaint setting of an apartment, Ask The Dust is a band that reflects profound growth. The collaborative spirit thrives as they intertwine with myriad musical talents from their homeland, expanding their creative horizons both in picturesque locales and professional production gear for their videos, all while retaining the self-produced ethos.

Their music, a dark resonance echoing the 80s goth and new wave atmospheres, manifests visually, too – through aesthetic decisions, locales, and the ornate attire in their videos.

The quartet, comprising Darko, Massimo Zompicchiatti, Roberta Cussigh, and Massimo Passon, is on a fervent mission to rekindle the flames of the music that once ignited their youthful spirits.
