Bauhaus Reunite with Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash, Kevin Haskins, and David J for Hollywood Gig November 3rd

It’s a cold day in hell as they say, as the “Godfathers of Goth,” Bauhaus, are set to reunite for a concert at the Palladium in Hollywood, on November 3rd, 2019, still within the window of the band’s 40th anniversary of their debut single “Bela’s Lugosi’s Dead.”

This reunion news came to light in the aftermath of frontman Peter Murphy’s recent heart attack, an event which naturally brought the band together once again, despite almost insurmountable odds.

Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash, and David J formed in Northampton in late 1978—but parted ways less-than-amicably in 1983 with the release of Burning From the Inside. A live reunion followed in 1998, yielding new track “The Dog’s a Vapour,” live record Gotham, and seminal cover of Dead Can Dance’s “Severance.” The band reunited once more for a live performance at Coachella in 2005 (where vocalist Peter Murphy famously descended to the stage hung upside down like a bat), followed by a solo headlining tour and a prominent opening slot for Nine Inch Nails. The band imploded once more in 2008, releasing their fifth studio album Go Away White just after the split. Soon after, Daniel Ash, David J, and Kevin Haskins reunited as their post-Bauhaus outfit Love and Rockets for a performance at Coachella.

Since the band’s latest split, Peter Murphy has released several solo albums and even toured with his own backing band in celebration of Bauhaus’ 35th anniversary in 2013.

Meanwhile David J had been touring with guitar in hand, doing intimate living room shows for the past several years now, engaging fans directly, and is still promoting his book published in 2014’s Who Killed Mister Moonlight: Bauhaus, Black Magick and Benediction.

Last year both Murphy and J embarked on an Extensive World tour of nearly 100 gigs throughout Europe, Asia, and Australia in celebration of Bauhaus’ 40 Year Ruby Anniversary.

Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins have not been idle either, as since 2017 the pair, along with Kevin’s daughter Diva, have been touring as Poptone, a Tones on Tail-heavy live project that culls songs from the catalog of that band, along with a handful of Bauhaus and Love and Rockets cuts. Haskins has also released a book of memoirs and ephemera, entitled Bauhaus – Undead.

Following the Ruby Anniversary Tour, Murphy set out on two residencies in San Francisco, and New York, performing a different solo record each night, with a greatest hits set, a Bauhaus-centric set, and even a night of David Bowie covers mixed in for good measure.

After a successful run of seven NYC shows, Murphy suffered a heart attack and was rushed to a hospital to receive emergency treatment, which resulted in the singer receiving two stents in his heart. During his recovery, it seems his former bandmates from Bauhaus reached out to Murphy, and during these talks, the band decided to reunite.

Bauhaus are set to perform at 7pm on Sunday, November 3rd at the Hollywood Palladium,  6215 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA. Tickets are $79.50 and go on sale this Friday, September 13th, at 10:00 am PT.
