Bauhaus Close Out Third Hollywood Reunion Show With Rare Performance of Brian Eno’s “Third Uncle”

Bauhaus finished out their third reunion gig at the Hollywood Palladium on Sunday night by offering a surprise rendition of Brian Eno’s “Third Uncle”—a rarity as the song was not only performed for the first time since the Resurrection tour in 1998—but for only its second time ever live, with the song’s live debut during their gig at the Manchester Apollo on June 23rd, 1983.

The cover of “Third Uncle” was initially the b-side to the Northampton post-punk band’s 1982 single release of their infamous cover of Bowie’s “Ziggy Stardust,” and was later featured as the opening track on their third studio album released the same year—The Sky’s Gone Out.

Given some possibly coy hints on social media by guitarist Daniel Ash, this might be far from the last song Bauhaus will perform on stage together live.

While Bauhaus have not announced any further reunion shows as of yet, frontman Peter Murphy is set to complete his solo residency in New York in January, which had previously been cut short due to his suffering a heart attack just hours before being he was scheduled to take the stage.
