Atlanta based Synth Artists Space Knife and Picture One cover A Flock of Seagulls

Atlanta based synth artists Space Knife and Picture One have covered 80s new-wave icons Flock of Seagulls on a newly released split EP.

Space Knife’s 80’s inspired synth-pop has amassed a cult following over the years having been featured on the hit Netflix television series Stranger Things, as well as having multiple easter eggs and references to the project peppered throughout the sets of the show.

Picture One’s latest efforts have drawn on 80’s new wave to synth-pop to darkwave-having released Across The Depths of Seven Lakes LP earlier this year.

Both artists met through the Atlanta film scene, and shared a mutual appreciation for A Flock of Seagulls.

Thomas Barnwell of Picture One commented on his appreciation of his new wave heroes:

“I wanted to cover the song Wishing for years, I always loved that main guitar line and feel of the song. So when Craig [Space Knife] sent me his initial cover it seemed like a good opportunity to collaborate!”

A Flock of Seagulls was the band that initially inspired Space Knife to begin playing synth-pop early on in his music career, (specifically the song Messages), and the space-age science fiction elements of A Flock of Seagulls drew Space Knife even deeper into the 80s sci-fi world of their music.
