Androgynous & Feminine Post-Punk Quartet Agender Unveil Their Video Manifesto “Preach”

Androgynously feminine post-punk quartet Agender have unveiled their icy and ominous political pontification “Preach”, a song which in both sound and lyrics fuses the situationist sensibilities of Gang of Four with the Crass school of feminist anarcho-punk, all the while capturing a caustic metallic sheen uniquely its own.

The band describes their song “Preach” thusly:

“Preach is a critique, A crossroads, a cry. A siren, a sermon, a scream. A proclamation to hold your power close, like currency. A ritualised transformation from God into Goddess energy.  An anti-elegy in favor of empathy.”

The statically scanned line render video for Preach was created by Los Angeles resident video installation artist Anthony Maldonado, who elaborates on the clip for “Preach” as being:

“A technicolor vision on the static screens of defiance against this age of madness and misinformation. Preach is an anthem of uprising against a control system fueled by a power-drunk American dictator and the corrupt. Rise up together and vote them out now!”

“Preach” is a track from Agender’s forthcoming new album No Nostalgia. The record was produced by singer/guitarist Romy, and David Scott Stone (LCD Soundsystem, Unwound, Melvins, Get Hustle). Mixing was by Sean Cook (St. Vincent, Angel Olsen, Best Coast)  and mastering by Bob Weston (Shellac).

No Nostalgia will be released in the Spring of 2021.
