A Post-Punk Ballet — Watch Dustbowlchampion’s Dreamy Video for “Shake”

In the autumnal whispers of 2020, a new endeavor emerged from the creative mind of musician Jaron Delacruz – the intriguing shoegaze-laden post-punk project from sunny Fresno, California, known as DustBowlChampion. Characterized by an aesthetic of elegant simplicity, this venture weaves hypnotic rhythms that pulse with infectious upbeat energy, inviting listeners to embark on an immersive aural odyssey.

The creative DNA of DustBowlChampion carries the imprints of certain influential dream pop and new wave artists. His whimsical ingenuity and introspective profundity build a darkly textured palette. As DustBowlChampion evolves and grows, it continues to draw from these wells of inspiration, crafting a sound that is as deeply hypnotic as it is tantalizingly upbeat.

Now, DustBowlChampion releases his first music video with the decorated director LeMarc (French Police, Closed Tear, Blood Club) for his latest single, “Shake.” The video, saturated in the heady hues of blood-red, is a hypnotic tableau of nocturnal life. It artfully straddles two diverse worlds, one glistening with the refined elegance of ballet, the other oozing an underground nightclub’s raw, illicit allure. This vibrant tapestry of the night unfolds in a mesmeric montage that mesmerizes the senses and stirs the imagination.

The single, a spectral echo haunting the corners of reality, reverberates with an ethereal, dreamlike resonance. This surreal soundscape marries impeccably with the disjointed visuals of the video, creating a sensory experience that transcends the borders of the tangible world. Together, they craft a realm where the commonplace meets the extraordinary, where dreams bleed into reality under the crimson glow of the nocturnal sky.

Regarding the production of the song’s music video, director, LeMarc declares, “I wanted to create a video people could dance to at the shows, something that truly gets them to shake.”
