An active member of The Cure is an executive producer of a film about Morrissey and The Smiths!
The Morrissey biopic England is Mine is currently being marketed as being from “The Producer of Control”—Orian Williams. This is not a meaningless rubber stamp however, as according to close friends of late Joy Division singer Ian Curtis, “Ori” was intimately involved with the production of the Anton Corbijn directed biopic based on Deborah Curtis’ book Touching from a Distance.
But what isn’t being marketed regarding the new film that chronicles events that would lead up to the formation of The Smiths is the fact that an active member of The Cure, Roger O’Donnell is also credited as an executive producer on the film.
Don’t believe it? It’s on the film’s poster, the official IMDB page, and Roger O’Donnell has been photographed at the film’s premiere at the Edinburgh Film Festival.
England is Mine had it’s world premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on July 2nd. It will then receive a wide release in the UK on August 4th. US Distribution to follow through Cleopatra Entertainment.
