A Backstage Pass to a Haunted Theatre — Seattle Darkwave Duo 2 Libras Debut Video for “Into the Sun”

It’s a dark and synthy night.

In their latest music video, “Into The Sun”, the third offering from their debut album, World’s End, Seattle darkwave duo 2Libras beckons us back to a world of gritty romanticism and terrifying intrigue.

The track tiptoes between nostalgia and futurism, bringing forth an ode to the raw intensity of the early 90s. Its underbelly thrums with sinister synth beats, while melodic guitar strains pierce the shadows, all crowned with harmonious vocal threads. Through the misty lens of echoing synths and haunting melodies, 2Libras probes the shadows cast by technology, big data, and the omnipresent realm of social media upon the tapestry of our intertwined lives.

Their evocative sound, tinged with riddles and refrains, beckons listeners into a chilling contemplation of where the digital thread ties and tangles with the very core of our humanity. The dance of bytes and heartbeats, as poetic as it is foreboding, finds a voice in their cryptic verses.

The eerie harmonies of “Into The Sun” emerge from the gloam into a spooky video clip, by director Josh Hamilton (Twizted Images Cinema). Into The Sun ensnares the listener with its lament for brighter tomorrows that seem perpetually on the horizon…a dirge for dreams deferred. Likewise, Hamilton’s cinematic alchemy serves us a bewitching enigma, tinged with both wonder and foreboding.

Let’s set the scene:

In the dim glow of a haunted theatre, an unseen entity whispers your name. The heavy red curtains unveil a scene that sends chills down your spine: there you are, on stage, harmonizing with an unknown face from the crowd. The music, eerily familiar, warps time and reality. As the last note drifts into the shadows, the audience vanishes like smoke. You turn, heart racing, only to find the grand exit sealed, the once welcoming glow….now menacing. Behind the scenes, a labyrinth of forgotten rooms beckons, and you find yourself ensnared in a chilling game of escape. Here, amidst wisps of ethereal romance, linger tales of yearning, memories lost to time, and spectral embraces. But amid these echoes of the heart, there’s an unsettling hum; the relentless march of technology, racing towards an ominous fate.

Every creak, every whisper, echoes with the haunting question: is this part of the show, or a malevolent twist of fate?

Wesley Foster Rogers and Jewels Foster Rogers, also known as 2Libras, have shared stages with various artists including actors, Korine, Johnny Dynamite, and Haunt Me. They skillfully blend industrial harshness, dark electro pulse, synthwave/synthpop currents, and rock soul in their music. Their latest album “World’s End” is a sonic time capsule that captures the spirit, anxieties, and desires of the 2020s, effortlessly stitching together the very fibers of past and future.

“We created an AI child from the pieces of ourselves that we preferred the most,” 2Libras say about the album. “We made it immune to death and out of love it found a way to keep us from dying also. For some time, we were content in our prison of silicon. Eventually we started questioning everything, including a way to escape. The ghosts in the machine told us a way. Will we make it out before the World’s End?”

Amidst the oscillating rhythms and tempos, what remains consistent in “World’s End” is its uncanny knack for capturing the raw, unfiltered spirit of the era. Whether it’s the unbridled joy of a moment or the soul-crushing weight of a memory, 2Libras channels it all onto the dance floor. In doing so, they give us a looking glass reflecting back the raw emotions, desires, and complexities of a generation.
