Some tracks hit like a friendly tap on the shoulder, but Ravenous barges in like an uninvited guest at three in the morning: loud, hungry, and dragging trouble behind it. Corlyx and The Spoiled smash their worlds together on this one, sparking a kind of wild communion built from teeth, tension, and tangled wires. What comes out feels restless, wired, and strangely tender.
Giovanni Santolla has been steering The Spoiled through Southern Italy’s post-punk trenches with a lone-wolf intensity: distorted synths grinding through fog, guitars smudged at the edges, beats snapping like brittle branches. It’s the same energy he poured into Time and Living Ghosts, the releases that pushed him across European stages with acts like Darkways, Traitrs, and Ductape. When he started shaping Ravenous, he thought he was sending Corlyx a remix project. Caitlin Stokes heard something bigger.
“Giovanni has great ideas, especially when it comes to conjuring energy and that punk angst,” she says. “When he sent me the track it initially was supposed to be a remix, but I saw more potential in this song.” The pair tore it apart, rebuilt it, and let Corlyx’s Brandon Ashley streak his “really sorrowful melodic riffs” across the top. Stokes made the final leap, deciding to sing through the whole thing: “I loved the contrast we created…it really tells the story of both sides of the lost connection that yearns to be whole.”
Giovanni saw that shift from his side too: “I knew Ravenous had potential, but with Caitlin’s haunting vocals and Brandon’s sharp, chorus-driven signature guitars, it felt like the song reshaped itself and took on a new colour, from a rough diamond into a true gem.”
Underneath all that is Corlyx’s new solidity. “Basically we are a real band now…,” Stokes quips. Bringing drummer Flow Toulman into the fold gave them bones, momentum, and an anchor.
The video, directed and edited by Stokes, pushes the collaboration even further. It follows Stokes and Santolla slinking through a dark city: two nocturnal conspirators bound by the same fever. They move past shuttered buildings, drift beneath the underpass of an abandoned highway, and dance in spaces that feel forgotten by daylight. There’s a feral pulse to it; the leather-and-lace contrast becomes its own language: toughness brushing against vulnerability, danger brushing against desire. The whole thing feels like a night that shouldn’t be happening, and yet you go against logic and follow these strange characters right along to a second location.
Ravenous is a late-night pact sealed in alley grit and neon hum, where two artists meet in the dark and let instinct take the wheel.
