When the moon is turning tides
That’s where freedom lies
Feel the secret of the night
No more questions now
Nighttime, in its quiet insistence, carries the solemn grace of clarity; a brief deliverance from daylight’s confounding glare. Under the moon’s watchful glow, truths buried by day breathe freely, liberated from their earthly shackles. Shadows, in their velvet mystery, unlock revelations reserved solely for the hours when reason dims and intuition reigns supreme. It is in darkness, that fleeting refuge, where one glimpses liberation from the chains of doubt, tasting briefly the bittersweet nectar of true freedom. The moon’s transformative power is profound yet ephemeral, illuminating secrets as quickly as it withdraws, leaving only an aching memory of its promise.
Berlin’s Lobsterbomb dives deeper into the inky blackness of the night with their latest single, Nightbird, out now via Ladies&Ladys Records. This track thrives in the enigmatic hours when the world’s hum quiets, channeling nocturnal inspirations akin to the spectral elegance of Siouxsie and the Banshees and the buoyancy of the Go-Gos. Swirling guitars drenched in chorus and drums pushing relentlessly forward infuse the tune with urgency and midnight momentum.
Born from sleepless solitude and buzzing midnight imaginations, Nightbird taps into the restless energy that thrives when daylight wanes. It’s a track that whispers secrets revealed only by the moon’s pale illumination, offering liberation and ephemeral clarity.
“Nightbird is a song for insomniacs and people who find their creative energy after the sun goes down,” says guitarist Crayon Jones. “A song for when the world around you is dark and quiet but your mind is racing with ideas.”
Recorded in Berlin by Thomas Götz of German punk stalwarts Beatsteaks, engineered and mixed meticulously by Karen Dhios at Transporterraum, “Nightbird” captures Lobsterbomb at their most vivid. Accompanying the release is a lyric video from Unlost Films, placing the band amidst the intrigue of an isolated forest, deepening the song’s nocturnal allure.

Formed in 2020 amidst the isolation of the pandemic, Lobsterbomb emerged from the online collective “We Formed A Band” as a creative lifeline. This Berlin-based trio: Nico Rosch, Vik Chi, and Crayon Jones, were drawn together by shared feelings of disillusionment and the pursuit of artistic freedom and renewal. Their cathartic, high-energy music became a visceral response to the intensity and solitude of those uncertain times. With bassist Em Ritchie joining the lineup in 2025, the band’s sound has expanded, reaching new depths and dimensions, marking their continuous evolution.
