My home‘s collapsing
Right in front of your eyes
The world is watching
Our own demise
Hamburg-based electro-gazers Seasurfer return with a stark anti-war statement, casting their ethereal shadows into mechanized rhythms. Their new single “Collapsing,” remixed with razor precision by M!R!M, confronts listeners with a haunting reflection on the fissures etched into both the earth and our collective psyche.
Taken from their forthcoming album, Electronic Monsters, the single delivers icy, electronic pulses, with vocals that are detached yet scathingly poignant—a mechanized poetry railing against the perpetual gears of the war machine. Under the guise of M!R!M, Italian producer and multi-instrumentalist Jack Milwaukee delivers a remix that bathes the track in a starkly metallic sheen, echoing classic industrial sounds. The result is precise, metallic, and ominously hypnotic, augmenting a potent message that sees Seasurfer at their most confrontational.
The accompanying video amplifies the stark commentary. Apocalyptic shades of crimson, grey-blue, and stark white color the imagery of nuclear detonations, collapsing skyscrapers, masked soldiers, and helicopters. Vocalist Apolonia looms contemplatively over scenes of ruin and decay, her gaze steady amid the chaos. It’s a harrowing meditation on destruction, trauma, and collective denial.
Apolonia recalls the inspiration vividly: “When Dirk first sent me the track, the war in Ukraine just started. It was heart breaking to see yet again another useless war, destroying innocent people’s homes, which could also be my or your home and how it was presented on television like entertainment… ‘Watching our own demise’… In the song I ask the question again and again: why?”

Seasurfer, comprising Dirk Knight and Apolonia, continues to fuse shoegaze and dreampop, expanding their sonic palette with thick basslines, dense electronics, and a wall-of-sound approach now amplified by the urgency of their message. Since forming in 2013, Knight’s collaborations have included luminaries like Robin Guthrie and John Fryer. Here, their sound evolves into something sharper, more immediate, and necessary.
The new single Collapsing includes three versions of the track: a cold and urgent remix by M!R!M, Seasurfer’s own single mix highlighting their signature electro dream punk textures, and a driving, minimal reimagining by M/A/T—Matthias Bischoff of Hamburg’s legendary SynthPop band Cyber.Electronic Monsters set for release on May 30th, 2025.
