Kid Katana Records and DON’T NOD crack open the crypt of dream-pop with The Veil, a dusky drift of delay and desire from former Chromatics core-members Ruth Radelet, Nat Walker, and Adam Miller. Their first joint séance since the band’s quiet dissolution, this track arrives tethered to Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, a new narrative escapade from the minds behind Life is Strange. It’s a fitting pairing: two timelines tangled, awash in gauze and glitch.
The past drips, loops, and lingers…and The Veil doesn’t lift; it hangs heavy with longing. A stifled voice emerges from a mask of stone, yearning to escape a slow descent into darkness. The song maps a descent through fading illusions and veiled pain, asking what sacrifices we make to be seen, to be saved. Longing, revelation, and release crash against the edge of oblivion, as Radalet’s sweet, hypnotic voice guides us through this process.
Shot on Kodak Super 8, Canon 518 SV, and a wheezing Sony Handycam, the Jake Bottiglieri-directed video looks like a memory left in the sun too long: faded, fragile, and ferociously intimate. Cinematographer Rayana Rasamee bathes each frame in a soft fog of analogue decay, matching the song’s slow-motion ache and its delicate pirouette through passing time.
“We wanted to create something that captured both the nostalgic 90s aesthetic of the game’s flashback sequences and the ethereal, dreamlike quality that fans associate with our music,” says Nat Walker, who also served as editor and colourist for the video.

In the nostalgic narrative of Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, music emerges as a pivotal force, echoing the emotional turbulence of youth and the enduring bonds of friendship. The soundtrack, a curated collection of 19 original tracks, traverses genres from ethereal dream pop to raw punk energy. Notably, this is shaped by the collaborative genius of Ruth Radelet, Nat Walker, and Adam Miller – former members of Chromatics – whose contributions infuse the game with a haunting resonance. Complementing this are the electrifying rhythms of Canadian electropop duo Milk & Bone and the rebellious strains of the Nora Kelly Band, each act bringing a distinct flavour. This harmonious blend not only underscores the game’s dual timelines but also encapsulates the essence of a generation caught between the heartbeats of the ’90s and the digital pulses of today.
The soundtrack is being released digitally in two parts, with Part 1 having launched on February 18, 2025, and Part 2 scheduled for release on April 15, 2025. A double vinyl edition is also available for preorder here.
