We walk defeated in a line
We wear disease across our eyes
Our one release is in the fiery furnace
Take us swiftly, take us now!
Born under the neon haze of Montreal’s midnight streets, HOTEL NOIR took form in 2016, a fevered vision led by Philip Faith (SEXSOMNIA, Rise Of The Fallen, WESTERNDREAM) alongside Yvan Tower, Michael Rien, Carlos Joncas, and Rafael Rosenwald. Drenched in German expressionism and driven by raw, electric urgency, the project exhales the ghosts of post-punk’s golden age, breathing new life into the spectral hymns from the darkest corners of the international scene. Hotel Noir’s setlist plays like a séance, conjuring the firebrand fury of The Clash, the abyssal brooding of Joy Division, the cathedral wails of Sisters of Mercy, and the fractured sermons of PiL, each song a whispered invocation of something both lost and unrelenting.
Their latest incantation, the HELLSVILLE EP, resurrects The Legendary Pink Dots’ Hellsville in two forms, summoning the unmistakable presence of Edward Ka-Spel himself. His voice, part oracle, part conjurer, hovers like a spectre over the track, pulling the listener deeper into the murk of Hellsville’s delirium. This is no mere tribute—it’s a séance set to tape, a fever dream of past and future colliding under flickering neon.
Hellsville slithers in slow and sinister, a dirge wrapped in delirium, a fever dream where the walls lean inward and the air grows thick with dread. Edward Ka-Spel’s voice curls like smoke, half-whisper, half-omen, unraveling riddles that sting like prophecy. The instrumentation lurches between eerie restraint and apocalyptic swell—keys that quiver, guitars that groan, rhythms that march toward some unseen precipice. It is a song that drips with decay, that laughs through clenched teeth, that stares into the abyss and hums a tune as the floor gives way. Here is the sound of civilization caving in on itself.
The second track is an electro dance mix of the track called SHEOL, remixed by Philip Faith. “We are blessed to have Edward’s voice on our version of Hellsville, it was an honour to work with such an iconic artist,” says Faith. “Long live The Legendary Pink Dots!”
Mastered by Attrition’s Martin Bowes, Hellsville is out now. You can stream on your platform of choice at the link here.
