[dropcap]Earlier[/dropcap] this year ahead of the release of their debut album Harieschaim—we interviewed Drangsal’s Max Gruber regarding this Catholic upbringing, and his interest in Frank Tovey and all things classic Post-Punk. Now, Max has premiered the DIY video for the album’s third single Will Ich Nur Dich, following the two previous hit singles Allan Align, and Love Me or Leave Me Alone.
Regarding the lo-fi feel in the video for Will Ich Nur Dich’s —Max explains that for this video he wanted complete creative control:
“It was a wholly unconscious decision, really. Frankly, I was just sick of working with bigger production companies, succumbing to other people’s ideas, compromising all the time and having to have conversations with ten people in between. It’s always a bit like whisper down the lane, you know?
Me and a friend—he’s a fashion-designer named Herr Urst—took matters into our own hands and a VHS cam was the only thing available.”
Here is an English translation for the lyrics to the song:
My head is full of cobblestones
Because you never get what I mean
My pants are full of broken legs
I secretly wish they were yours
And still
I only want you
And still, I only want to be with you
And still
I only want you
And still, I only want to be with you
The pockets are full of bills
Don’t you see the crying people
Out of the concrete there’s a noisy cry
I get you the voice
over
over
It is over
And still
I only want you
And still, I only want to be with you
And still
I only want you
And still, I only want to be with you
