1980s Swedish Goth Band The Bizarre Orkeztra is Reissuing Their Music for Streaming

In the early ’80s, a post-punk plumed Swedish phoenix arose from the ashes of cult favourite PF Commando and the more avant-garde Modaern Art: a glorious hybrid called The Bizarre Orkeztra. One of Sweden’s early goth bands, the group released three albums and several singles before disbanding at the end of the decade.

Comparable in style to The Chameleons, Killing Joke, Teardrop Explodes, and Josef K, The Bizarre Orkeztra is currently digging through the vaults and finally re-releasing their work digitally for the first time, via COMEDIA’s reissue program.

1985’s Visions On The Wall (Ambush Records), the band’s first full-length album, is out now, as is 1987’s A Beautiful Place. Forthcoming releases this year include the single Midnight Show (1986), Hunger For Pleasure (album, 1988), and She’s Got (single, 1989).

Visions On The Wall and A Beautiful Place were originally recorded and mixed by Jomma Sundström at Gävle Ljudstudio and produced by Bob Boxkopf. The re-release was remastered in 2020 by Jonas Strömberg at Slowbeat Studio / Gävle in Sweden.
