101 Freeway emblazoned with Morrissey’s name during a series of events in Hollywood yesterday celebrating the singer

Yesterday Hollywood belonged to Morrissey, as several events aligned in his honor. The first being his 11th studio album Low In High-School being announced for a November 17th release, the second being the announcement of a Hollywood Bowl Gig with Billy Idol on November 10th, the third being the Hollywood Bowl freeway exit sign being emblazoned with Morrissey’s name.

This may have been part of what some may suggest is a “guerilla style marketing promotion” for the November 10th concert, or perhaps just an overzealous fan. At this time, however, the parties involved with adding the former Smith’s frontman’s moniker above the Hollywood Bowl exit above the 101 freeway, are still unknown.

At 11:30am, yesterday morning the photo above was taken by Twitter user D.P. Scott on the southbound 101. It is unclear if the exit sign has had Morrissey’s name removed as of yet.

The presale for the Hollywood Bowl concert already is underway, that also included a bundled preorder of the new LP. The general public ticket sale will begin at 10 a.m. PDT Friday.

A fourth event also occurred yesterday—that it is not clear at this time whether it was a coincidence or not. The Morrissey Biopic England Is Mine had its Hollywood premiere at a private event during the evening that included a Q/A with its writer, cast, producer, and director—and a performance from the Mexican Morrissey himself  Jose Maldonado.

England Is Mine, already released in the UK, is set to be released in US theatres this week. Watch the trailer below, and go here to find showtimes near you.
